Couldn't Get Into

 Hello, my readers and movie watchers. Happy July.   So, what are you reading this month? I have a few things, but I tried to read this book, Moth to Flame by Asley Antionette, but I couldn't get into it. The basis of the story is about a shelter women named Raven and her relationship with a stick-up kid named Miazen. Ravens is a spoiled brat and goes against her father's warning to not mess with Mizan, he's bad news. Being young and dumb, thinking you know better, Raven doesn't listen. She finds herself realizing that when the honeymoon is over and things get ugly in her relationship, daddy's not around to protect her anymore.  I'm sure the story is a good one, but it just didn't hold my interest. I love her other stories. If you have read this story, tell me your thoughts love to hear them. Also seen any good movies lately? Let a Sista know..

Love Mary But...

 Hello, my Book Lovers and Movie Watchers. Is it hot enough for you today?? New York is over 110 degrees, and Sista is sweating to death. But anyway, here is the short version of the book Bad Blood by Mary Monroe. Don't get me wrong, I love her Lexington, Alabama stories. They are so good. But this one. It was ok. Not one of my better books. The story is about a man named Seth who's guided and spoiled by his family and looking to marry the perfect woman. In comes Rachel, who, overall, was a good woman in Seth's mind. After their marriage, Seth, being a family pleaser, spoiled and very selfish, things turn ugly. In this book your dealing with mental health issues, family drama, relationships, life lessons, all the basic stuff. It was o.k. reading. I've read many better books by Mary, whom I happen to love. If you've read the book, what did you think about it?

                                       Hello My Book Lovers and Movie Watchers.

Happy June. So, what are you reading this month?? This book The Arranged by Roby Harding. Can't lie, I could not get into this story to save my life. The story is about a sugar baby, a young college student in her early 20s who dates older men for money and expensive gifts. They create an arrangement of physical needs versus money short of thing. Anyway, the story is about a young, immature woman named Natalie who's broke and needs fast money for school and life in general. She meets Gabe, who's rich, a lawyer, and in need of a sugar baby. They hook up.  Gabe spoils Natalie by giving her lots of money, taking her on expensive trips, and giving her expensive gifts.  Then Natalie gets delusional in thinking Gabe, an older man, could be her boyfriend. But Gabe is married and only wants the arrangement they started with. Basically, him paying for her time.  When Gabe drops her.  Of course, Natalie goes crazy and starts stalking him. Mind you, Gabe has a family, kids, and a good job he will go to great lengths to protect. See lifetime movie stuff.

   Anyway, I couldn't really get into this story. If you have read it, what did you think?

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. How is everybody today? So, what are you reading?  This weekend, I decided to review for you an oldie but goodie IceBerg Slim, The Story Of  My Life, Pimp. It's about a guy named young blood that comes to Chicago from Milwaukee in the late 30's or 40s. He gets a pimp mentor and is trained to become a pimp. Here are my thoughts and the review on this interesting story...

                                         Hello My Book Lovers and Movie Watchers

I need to really stop reading the Amazon reviews on books and base my book selections on what others are saying about the book. Like this one, Kingpins Of Cleveland by Brandi Johnson. I couldn't get into the book for the life of me. It's about two sisters who are totally opposite from one another. One wants to be a drug kingpin, and the other just wants to do her own thing. But she always has her sisters back.  I got into like the 5th chapter, and for some reason, it didn't grab me. So, I had to put it down. Tell me, readers, was I wrong? Have you read this book? If so, was it any good? I always say if the book can't grab you in 5-7 chapters, move it on.
