Hello, My Book Lovers and Movie Watchers
What are you reading today? Finding Forever by Keisha Ervin is what you call a novella; it's less than 200 pages, and I got this book for two reasons. First, I wanted to see how to write a novella because I want to start writing books like this. Second, I like urban romance. So, I will be killing two birds with one stone with this book, but... This book, in my opinion, is not that good. Here's why the story is about two people, Whitney & Koran; they were teenage lovers. Koran thought he would be with Whiney forever, but she walked out on him with no explanation. Fast forward eight years, they are in their mid-20s, Koran is a drug dealer who has a small army of young boys working for him, selling drugs on the corner. He personally trained, and Whitney is back home, going to college. To get her PhD. They meet by accident again, and they pick up where they left off. Koran keeps pushing her to find out why she left him when they were teenagers. It broke his heart when she did that. Whitney pushes back by lying to him about why she left him. Which causes tension in their so-called relationship. Also, one of the problems they have is that Korean has an ex-girlfriend who can't accept its over between them even though Korean keeps using her for sex, He also stays in the picture because of her son. That's not his, but he raised him, so he felt like it was his and treats the boy like is own son.
Anyway, the characters in the story are not strong enough, meaning that one minute Whiney wants to be just friends with Koran, and the next minute she's telling him how much she loves him. Also, Koran is a drug pusher, but he's not that strong a leader. He's more of a pushover when it comes to ruling. His ex-girlfriend runs over him along with the guys who work for him. Trina is not letting Koran go, even though she was the one who cheated on him. The story overall was too confusing and too much wishy-washy dialogue, and the plot was not that good. I was hoping for better.
For these characters to be older, they still acted like children, in my opinion. I had to stop reading this story. Which made me disappointed because I wanted to know what happened in the end. If you have read this book and finished this story. Let me know what your thoughts were on it.
Happy Reading
